The matter is a subject I appreciate since my early days of photography. I have always been fascinated by the nature of things itself and the different ways in which it could be interpreted. I see it as a raw material that comforts my idea that nothing matters that the eye cannot already see. It is like a model of predilection, available to anyone who dares to pay attention to it. It appears like a naturel sketch that one would instinctively like to paint with light. Beside the esthetic aspect, black and white as well as the granular quality of film allow me to express myself in an allegorical manner, leaving ideological codes and temporality which, for me and in this instance, would be inherent to color. The goal is for the spectator to dive in a proper and abstract universe emanating from reality and creating a visual impact capable of waking oneʼs senses and curiosity. The matter is therefore a universal subject. It feeds on different elements and manifests itself in a story without beginning nor end, in which life and death are inseparable.
